Although it's an hour from Lucca, there's simply no substitute for the joy of strolling through the market's bustling stalls early in the morning. And have lunch or coffee afterwards.

Tip: if you are in Florence during New years eve, It is possible to have your dinner at the Mercato. We tried it and it was so much fun. It is not the most romantic place, but there was good food, warm people and a lot of wine and laughter. Mercato Centrale, a place where the love for food knows no bounds.
