Going to the weekly market and visit my local favorite shops in Lucca is a weekly habit for me in a Saturday. I prefer going with the Vespa, enjoying nature and the beautiful views around Lucca. And a Vespa is easy parking in the, especially in high season, busy centro historico. There is one shop that you must visit being in Lucca.

I always make sure to visit Antica Bottega, when I'm shopping in the center of Lucca. It's almost impossible for me to walk in without coming out with something special. Antica Bottega dates back to 1790 and is essentially an old-fashioned food shop focused on local products from Lucca and its surroundings.

The selection of local olive oils and vinegar is extensive. Only top-quality products, made in small batches with passion, are available here. It's a very special place because you won't find such a collection of local products anywhere else. Since the products are often made in exclusive limited quantities, it's always a pleasant surprise to see what's on the shelves.

At the back of the store, there's a small display case with salami and cheeses, and you'll also find a wide variety of herbs needed for creating delicious Italian dishes. It's also a great spot to find unique gifts to bring home. Who wouldn't want a small bottle of olive oil packaged like expensive perfume, with the production date handwritten on the label?

The shop is located at Via S. Lucia 13, so after your visit, you can easily enjoy a drink a coffee at Piazza San Michele.
