The museum is a 45 minute drive from Lucca, don’t take the highway but make a roadtrip, follow the Via di Tiglo from Lucca to Pontedera, here you will pass Pieve di Compito and the nature reserve Camelittum Compitese. If you have time have an Italian lunch or dinner at, Il Giardinetto da Giando in the shade of old ancient trees.
Tip: you will also pass "Olio Colle", for local products and very good olive oil. If you have time pay them a visit.
